About Course
Technical Design course teaches how to build factory-ready tech packs that manufacturers can produce from without guesswork. Eight weeks of live training, a capstone, then a three-month paid practicum with a fashion brand.

How the six months run
Two stages of training in Lagos, then real work experience with a brand.

Weeks 1 to 8
Live training
Three sessions a week, five hours each. Lectures, workshops and case studies, with a technical design deliverable due every week.

Weeks 9 to 12
Assessment and capstone
A written exam, a timed mystery-garment tech pack, one-to-one instructor reviews, and a live capstone presentation at an in-person showcase with industry judges.

Months 4 to 6
Paid practicum
Three months of paid placement with a partner fashion brand, working on real products.
Hybrid format. Theory sessions can be joined online. Hands-on technical work happens in person at our studio in Yaba, Lagos.
What you'll learn
Three stages that take you from your first T-shirt tech pack to auditing a tailored jacket.
Foundation, weeks 1 to 3
- Introduction to tech packs and the fashion supply chain
- Core terminology: seams, stitches, garment parts, fabrics and trims
- Points of measure (POM), tolerances and grading fundamentals
- Building the bill of materials (BOM) and construction details page
- Your first complete tech pack: a T-shirt
Intermediate, weeks 4 to 6
- Woven and knit construction, garment anatomy and flat sketching
- A complete tech pack for a woven shirt: cover, BOM, spec sheet and construction details
- Trouser anatomy, POM, grading and BOM specifics
- Grade error analysis
- Practical case studies and professional skills
Advanced, weeks 7 and 8
- Advanced flat sketching, including an introduction to Adobe Illustrator
- A full dress tech pack: lining, invisible zip and dress-specific POM
- Tailored jacket anatomy, complex BOM and construction details
- Professional tech pack auditing
- Final portfolio assembly, and working freelance or in industry
- Practical case studies and professional skills

Do I need experience to join?
No. The programme is open to beginners as well as practising designers and tailors. You start with the fundamentals and progress to advanced tech packs.
Is it online or in person?
Hybrid. Theory sessions can be joined online, but hands-on technical work requires in-person attendance at our studio in Yaba, Lagos.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop or tablet, and a notepad.
What if I miss a class?
You can miss up to two sessions and remain eligible for certification.
Can I pay in instalments or get a scholarship?

Is the certificate recognised?
You’ll earn The Bridge Institute Certificate in Technical Design. The curriculum is developed with hiring managers and brand owners, and The Bridge Program has placed 200+ graduates in brands across Nigeria and beyond.
